Jordan Pond, The Bubbles and The Bubble Rock - Oct 15/16
How many times have you come across mountains that reminded you of a woman?
Fresh off the Precipice Trail and with adrenaline surging through us, we ended up at the beautiful Jordan Pond area. We were all ravenous, so we all took a hot drink from the Cafeteria and headed out to the lawn which overlooks the pond. Lo and behold we see North and South Bubble Mountains across the massive body of water. The names should have been something else and I leave it to your imagination, but we 'tittered' like teenagers and admired nature anew. We were planning on hiking up the The Bubbles the next morning and took a quick walk partially along Jordan Pond. Going back to the hotel we were able to see Bubble Rock (which is visible from the road along the mountain).
Next morning right after Breakfast Jolly and I started off to climb the Bubbles whereas the rest of the group wanted to do Jordan Cliffs. As it was going to rain, Aravind and Charu decided to forego Jordan Cliffs and came with us to the Bubbles.
We managed to get a parking spot and soon were off on this easy family hike. You soon come to the 'Bubble Divide' and we swung left to climb South Bubble. It was getting overcast but in no time we were at the summit of South Bubble and exploring the summit. We saw 'Bubble Rock' which is precariously sitting on one corner of the top of the mountain. It felt like the globe Atlas lost along the way. This rock they said was left over by the glaciers and seems like it might start rolling any time

The view of Jordan Pond and the surrounding forests was breath taking. We could see the patch of lawn we were lolling around on just the day before sipping coffee/tea. Did not feel like leaving but soon had to make a move.

We head down again to the Bubbles Divide to go up North Bubble mountain. It has started drizzling now making the rocks slippery. We continue up and are soon standing on the summit of North Bubble too. Views in Acadia from any high ground are memorable and this was no different. The tranquility and the silence that falls on the soul is transcendental. Each of us was lost in their own trance.
